Source & Nature
Alprazolamum is the homeopathic preparation of alprazolam, a synthetic triazolobenzodiazepine anxiolytic (molecular formula C17H13ClN4, CAS 28981-97-7, PubChem CID 2118). The drug was developed by Jackson B. Hester Jr. at the Upjohn Company, patented in 1971 and FDA-approved in 1981. It is best known under the brand name Xanax and is among the most widely prescribed psychiatric medications worldwide, used for generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder and anxiety with depression.
Preparation
The remedy is prepared from the alprazolam drug substance by standard homeopathic methods: centesimal trituration with lactose/saccharose for the lower steps (typically through C6), then serial liquid potentization in ethanol-water. The homeopathic pharmacy Remedia (Eisenstadt, Austria) lists Alprazolam as saccharose globules in C potencies from C3 to C200, as ethanol-water dilutions (C30-C200), and as Korsakovian potencies (1MK, 10MK), made on demand.
