Source & Nature
AMOXICILLINUM is the homeopathic preparation of amoxicillin (amoxycillin), a semi-synthetic aminopenicillin beta-lactam antibiotic, molecular formula C16H19N3O5S, MW ~365.40 g/mol anhydrous (CAS 26787-78-0; PubChem CID 33613). The commonly dispensed trihydrate is C16H25N3O8S (CAS 61336-70-7). Introduced clinically by Beecham around 1974, amoxicillin is a bactericidal inhibitor of bacterial cell-wall synthesis (binds penicillin-binding proteins, blocking transpeptidation) and is one of the most widely prescribed oral antibiotics worldwide.
