Clarke

Atropinum is indicated where the Belladonna picture is present with a more pronounced effect on vision, speech, and the pancreas. The remedy suits conditions of mania, epilepsy, and wryneck with dry mucous membranes, visual distortions, and hyperaesthesia of multiple sensory nerves, especially on the right side.

Key symptoms

  • Visual illusions; everything appears large, elongated, or in a cloud; motes, stars, flashes
  • Spectral illusions; sees insects and crawling things, tries to catch them
  • Mania with tendency to escape; frenzied excitement; delirium with headache
  • Mouth and throat dry; tongue thick and semi-paralysed; speech stuttering and chattering
  • Sticking pains in head worse on every motion and stepping
  • Head very hot; headaches of epileptics
  • Epilepsy; convulsions; spinal irritation; wryneck

Worse (aggravation)

  • Every motion and stepping (sticking headache worse)

Better (amelioration)

  • Moving in open air (sticking temple pain relieved)
  • After vomiting (stomach pains relieved)
