This remedy is most suitable for people  who feel lightheaded, as if their head  “isn’t there.” They may be indifferent to  life and disinclined to work.

Key conditions linked with the Calc. iod.  remedy are enlarged tonsils honeycombed with pits, glandular swellings, and fibroids. Adenoid complaints accompanied by frequent colds in children may respond to the remedy, as may thyroid enlargement during puberty. In certain cases, the glandular swellings, such as those in the breast, may become cancerous.

Key symptoms

  • Scrofulous affections with markedly enlarged glands and tonsils
  • Thyroid enlargements about time of puberty
  • Flabby children subject to colds; adenoids; uterine fibroids
  • Secretions inclined to be profuse and yellow
  • Croup and pneumonia; chronic cough with green purulent expectoration
  • Enlarged tonsils filled with little crypts
  • Indolent ulcers accompanying varicose veins

Worse (aggravation)

For warmth; for the heat of the bed; at night; in cold weather.

Better (amelioration)

For open air.

Iodide of Lime. Ca I2.

Clinical

Cancer. Consumption. Flatulence. Glandular swellings. Headache. Mollities ossium. Tumours of the breast.

Characteristics

Calc. iod. has had a short proving, but it has been used mostly on indications suggested by its two components in the diseases named above. It is similar to Baryt. iod. in its action on enlarged glands, and is especially indicated for enlarged tonsils honey-combed with little crypts. Riding against a cold wind = headache. C. L. Nicholls has cured a number of cases of breast tumour with the 3x; nodular tumours, movable, tender to touch, painful on moving arm.

Relations

Compare: Calc., Baryt., Calc. ph., Carb. v.
