Source & Nature
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is an endogenous C19 steroid hormone — the chief androgen precursor of the adrenal cortex, also called prasterone. Formula C19H28O2, molecular weight ~288.4, CAS 53-43-0, PubChem CID 5881; IUPAC name 3β-hydroxyandrost-5-en-17-one. It circulates mainly as the sulfate (DHEA-S) and is converted peripherally to testosterone and the estrogens. Commercially it is sold as an over-the-counter supplement and, as prasterone, as a prescription vaginal insert. The homeopathic remedy is made from the pure substance.
Preparation
Being water-insoluble, the substance is first triturated with lactose to solubility (Hahnemannian / German HAB method) and then potentised in ethanol–water dilution. Remedia lists centesimal potencies from C6 through C200 (globules) and C30–C200 (liquid), plus Korsakovian 1MK–100MK globules, prepared per HAB 2018.
