Modern MM
Predominantly a women's hormonal remedy acting on the ovarian–menstrual axis, breasts, uterus, urinary tract and the emotional sphere. Centrally indicated for "ailments from" oestrogen excess and oral-contraceptive/hormone use, with a characteristic premenstrual aggravation and a mental state of loss of individuality — feeling controlled or drained by others.

Key symptoms

"Never well since the Pill" / ailments from oral contraceptives and oestrogen therapy. Marked premenstrual syndrome — symptoms worst from ovulation to menses, relieved once flow is established. Hypersensitivity to heat, noise and touch. Breasts swollen, enlarged and tender premenstrually. Fluid retention and premenstrual weight gain. Mental picture of loss of individuality, feeling controlled, dominated or used ("a doormat"), self-denial and emotional drainage. Alternation of excitability and depression worse before menses. Used to restore ovulation/fertility after contraceptive suppression.

Worse (aggravation)

Premenstrually and from ovulation to menses; before menses; heat; noise; touch/contact; rest; nightfall; and (per secondary clinical sources) wind, alcohol and nicotine.

Better (amelioration)

After menses begin (especially after the third day) and with movement/exercise; fresh cool air; and (per secondary clinical sources) appreciation/commendation.

Source & Nature

FOLLICULINUM is the homeopathic preparation of oestrone (estrone, E1) — one of the three principal endogenous human oestrogens, a C18 steroid sex hormone (C18H22O2; PubChem CID 5870; CAS 53-16-7) secreted chiefly by the ovarian follicle. It is a water-insoluble white crystalline solid, historically obtained from urine. As a hormone (sarcode-type) remedy it represents oestrogenic activity itself, and its therapeutic image is drawn largely from the substance's known physiological and toxicological action rather than from a classical proving.
