Hedera helix has a relationship to rickety conditions and chronic hydrocephalus, as demonstrated by Dr. Cooper's clinical cases. A single dose of the remedy in a girl with chronic hydrocephalus initiated three weeks of cerebro-spinal rhinorrhoea with subsequent significant reduction in head circumference over thirteen months. Rhinorrhoea cerebro-spinalis should always suggest this remedy.

Key symptoms

  • Chronic hydrocephalus with enlarged head circumference
  • Cerebro-spinal rhinorrhoea (clear fluid dripping from nostrils)
  • Rickets and rickety conditions
  • Cataract (cured by use as a sternutatory)
  • Head size reduction following treatment

The condition had existed from childhood and was apparently growing much worse. There were two large œdematous swellings on the nape of the neck, one on either side and immediately below the occiput, evidently the result of intra-hydrocephalic pressure. One drop of Hed. h. Ø was placed on her …
