Mygale las. is best suited to people who are restless, anxious, fearful, and delirious. They may talk deliriously about work, fear death, and have a high sex drive.

The remedy is generally prescribed for  twitching, convulsive movements, possibly accompanied by nausea, dimmed vision, and heart palpitations. It is also used for chorea, especially when this affects the muscles of the upper body, including the face. The tongue is so dry that words may seem to be “jerked” out on speaking. During sleep there may be restlessness, ridiculous dreams, and grinding of teeth.

Key symptoms

  • Chorea with constant involuntary movements of arms and legs
  • Twitching of facial muscles; mouth and eyes open in rapid succession
  • Limbs drag while walking; unsteady gait
  • Head jerked to one side; grating of teeth at night
  • Tongue dry and parched; put out with difficulty
  • Better during sleep; worse in morning

Worse (aggravation)

In the morning; for sitting; for eating.

Better (amelioration)

During sleep.

Mygale Lasiodora Cubana. A large black Cuban Spider. N. O. Arachnida. Tincture of living spider.

Clinical

Chordee. Chorea. Gonorrhœa.

Characteristics

The pathogenetic data of Mygale consist of a proving by a young lady and the effect of a bite on a man. In the latter case, inflammation ensued which spread along the lymphatics, violet and afterwards green discoloration; chill followed by fever, dry mouth, and great thirst, trembling, dyspnœa, despondency, and fear of death. The prover developed sadness; dry mouth; nausea with great palpitation, dim sight, and great general weakness; increased flow of urine, hot, scalding, with stinging in urethra. This last symptom has led to the successful use of Myg. in gonorrhœa, chordee, and syphilis. The "trembling" observed in the man suggests its use in nervous cases, but the sphere of Myg. in chorea has been developed from the clinical side. In the cases cured with it, twitching and contractions of facial muscles have been very prominent; convulsive movements of …
