Clarke

Natrium Selenicum is best suited to the early stage of laryngeal phthisis or chronic laryngitis where there is slight hoarseness with expectoration of small bloody mucus lumps. The remedy lacks a formal proving and its indications are entirely clinical, derived from Meyhoffer's original suggestion.

Key symptoms

  • Expectoration of small lumps of bloody mucus from the larynx
  • Slight hoarseness in early laryngeal phthisis
  • Chronic laryngitis especially in its early stage

Selenate of Sodium. NaSeO4. Trituration.

Clinical

Laryngeal phthisis. Laryngitis, chronic.

Characteristics

This is an unproved remedy, but it has a decided affinity for the larynx. According to Hansen its use in homœopathy was first suggested by Meyhoffer, who gave the indication in laryngeal phthisis as: "Expectoration of small lumps of bloody mucus with slight hoarseness." It is best suited to the early stage of the disease.
