Saponinum suits persons with rheumatic and glandular complaints whose symptoms are characteristically worse in warm rooms, despite general chilliness and lowered body temperature. There is a marked affinity for the throat, joints, and female reproductive organs. Menstrual irregularities with pain predominantly before the flow and inflammatory swelling of the tonsils are guiding features.

Key symptoms

  • Nausea felt more in the oesophagus and throat, worse in a warm room
  • Menstrual disturbances with severe pain before the flow
  • Miliary skin eruption with colic and leucorrhoea before menses
  • Lowered body temperature, even down to 96 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Articular rheumatism, especially of the left knee
  • Constipation alternating with diarrhoea and colic
  • Boils and intense local inflammation after injection

Worse (aggravation)

  • Warm room
  • Warmth in general
  • Before menstrual flow
  • Right side (throat symptoms)

Better (amelioration)

  • When menstrual flow is established (partial relief of pain)
  • Cool conditions
