Tetradymite suits individuals who experience intense localized pains in small spots, especially about the nails, heels, and joints. There is a marked aggravation of joint and tendon pains on rising from a seated position. The type is suggested by Hering's self-proving, with affinity for nail problems, coccygodynia, and extremity pains.

Key symptoms

  • Pains occurring in small, circumscribed spots
  • Ulcerative pains about the margins of nails; ingrowing nails
  • Urticaria from eating shellfish; face stiff and swollen
  • Coccygodynia; severe pain in coccyx and ischium when sitting
  • Tendines Achillis constantly painful as if sprained
  • Ankle pains violent while sitting, worse rising from a seat
  • Stiffness in left arm about elbow-joint with constant desire to stretch
  • Burning pains as from hot needles in skin
  • Sweat especially on occiput and nape at night

Worse (aggravation)

  • Rising from a seat (ankle and Achilles tendon pains)

Better (amelioration)

  • Walking (Achilles tendon pain)
