Source & Nature
Acetylsalicylicum acidum is the homeopathic preparation of acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), C9H8O4, MW ~180.16, CAS 50-78-2, PubChem CID 2244. It is a synthetic salicylate ester first marketed by Bayer in 1899 and is among the most widely used drugs in the world — an NSAID analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and, at low dose, an antiplatelet agent. In homeopathy it belongs to the acid / salicylate group and is the acetyl ester of Salicylicum acidum.
Preparation
Made by trituration of acetylsalicylic acid to the soluble stage followed by serial dilution and succussion per the homeopathic pharmacopoeia. Commercially available in centesimal potencies — typically 6C, 12C, 30C, 200C and 1M (SBL, Boiron and similar pharmacies).
