Aldosteronum

Aldosterone; 11β,21-dihydroxy-3,20-dioxopregn-4-en-18-al; CAS 52-39-1; C21H28O5 (mol. wt. 360.4) · Aldosterone, Electrocortin (historical), Aldosteronum (homeopathic/organotherapy designation)

Modern MM
Sarcode of the principal adrenal mineralocorticoid. Its sphere of action mirrors the hormone's physiology — sodium/water retention, potassium loss, blood-pressure and fluid-volume regulation. Toxicological picture (Law of Similars): resistant hypertension, hypokalemic muscle weakness/cramps, fatigue, polyuria/polydipsia, headache, fluid retention; conversely salt-craving and hypotension in deficiency states. No proving-derived mind picture exists.

Key symptoms

Derived from pharmacology/toxicology (no proving): fluid and sodium retention with potassium depletion; resistant high blood pressure (Conn's syndrome picture); muscle weakness, cramps and fatigue from hypokalemia; excessive thirst (polydipsia) and frequent/copious urination (polyuria); headache and dizziness; palpitations/arrhythmia from low potassium; metabolic alkalosis. In the opposite (deficiency) pole: craving for salt, low blood pressure, weakness and exhaustion. (Note: hypokalemia is present in a minority of documented hyperaldosteronism cases; hypertension is the consistent feature.)

Worse (aggravation)

Not established by proving. No reliable aggravation modalities are recorded for Aldosteronum; none should be inferred.

Better (amelioration)

Not established by proving. No reliable amelioration modalities are recorded for Aldosteronum; none should be inferred.

Source & Nature

ALDOSTERONUM is the homeopathic sarcode prepared from aldosterone, the principal mineralocorticoid hormone of the adrenal cortex (zona glomerulosa). Chemically it is the steroid C21H28O5 (CAS 52-39-1, PubChem CID 5839, mol. wt. 360.4). As the final effector of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system it governs sodium and water reabsorption and potassium/hydrogen-ion excretion in the kidney, colon, and salivary/sweat glands, and thereby regulates blood pressure and extracellular fluid volume.

Preparation

Prepared as a sarcode/organotherapy remedy by serial trituration and dilution with succussion of the aldosterone hormone. Marketed across the centesimal scale — 3C through 1M (3C, 4C, 5C, 6C, 7C, 9C, 12C, 15C, 30C, 200C, 1M) — in pellets and in low-alcohol (24%) liquid form by sarcode pharmacies.
