Source & Nature
Paracetamolum is the homeopathic preparation of paracetamol (acetaminophen, APAP), the most widely used analgesic-antipyretic drug in the world and a constituent of hundreds of over-the-counter pain and cold preparations. It is a white crystalline para-aminophenol derivative, molecular formula C8H9NO2, molecular weight 151.16 g/mol, CAS 103-90-2, PubChem CID 1983, DrugBank DB00316.
In homeopathic pharmacy it is also catalogued as Acetaminophen, 4-Acetamidophenol, p-Acetylamidophenol and p-Hydroxyacetanilid.
Preparation
Prepared per the German Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia (HAB 2018). As paracetamol is poorly water-soluble, lower potencies are triturated with lactose and then carried into a hydro-alcoholic dilution for higher stages. Remedia lists D3-D200, C3-C200 and Korsakovian 1MK/10MK; globules are saccharose-based.
