Plant · Urticaceae

Clarke

The Parietaria patient may present with renal calculi, fitting the remedy's kinship with Urtica urens and Kali nitricum. The single curious mental/dream symptom — nightmare of being buried alive in ruins — may serve as a confirmatory keynote in suitable cases.

Key symptoms

  • Renal calculus
  • Nightmare of being buried alive amid ruins
John Henry Clarke
A Dictionary of Practical Materia Medica · 1900

Parietaria officinalis. Pellitory-of-the-Wall. N. O. Urticaceæ. Tincture of fresh plant.

Pariet. belongs to the nettles. It grows on old walls, and its ashes contain much Nitre (K. nit.). Cooper has used it with success in a case of renal calculus; and in one case it produced nightmare, the patient dreaming of being buried alive in the midst of ruins.
