Testosterone, the principal male androgen / male sex hormone. Homeopathically classed as a sarcode (a remedy made from a healthy physiological substance/secretion of the body).
Source & Nature
Testosteronum is the homeopathic preparation of testosterone, the principal male androgenic sex hormone (C19H28O2, CAS 58-22-0, PubChem CID 6013; IUPAC 17β-hydroxyandrost-4-en-3-one). Because it is made from a normal physiological constituent of the body rather than a plant, mineral or drug toxin, it is classed homeopathically as a sarcode.
Preparation
Made by trituration of testosterone with lactose/saccharose followed by serial dilution and succussion. The cited commercial source (Boiron) lists Testosterone base in centesimal potencies (4C through 30C) and higher Korsakovian dilutions. The 30C is the potency reported in the published UK clinical case. A propionate-ester form is mentioned in some sources but is not confirmed by the reference cited here.
