Carlsbad Aqua is indicated in general debility and weakness of all excretory organs, particularly involving liver dysfunction, obesity, diabetes, and gout. Sluggishness of constipation with inactive peristalsis, weak urinary stream, and tendency to form deposits is characteristic. Periodicity of symptoms (returning every two to four weeks) and improvement in open air and motion are distinguishing features.

Key symptoms

  • Stool only evacuated with help of distant muscles; peristalsis ceases near end of intestine
  • Constant flushes of heat all over, especially in face with forehead sweat
  • Headache with swollen temporal veins, better from motion and open air
  • Periodicity: symptoms recurring after two to four weeks
  • Skin red spots and streaks burning like fire; sweat staining linen yellow
  • Great liability to take cold; sensitiveness to cold air

Worse (aggravation)

  • Morning and evening
  • After eating and drinking
  • On ascending; after lying down in bed
  • In a closed room

Better (amelioration)

  • In open air
  • On motion

Characteristics

Carlsbad water is a very complicated solution containing the sulphite, bicarbonate and chloride of sodium in preponderating quantity, with carbonates, sulphates, phosphates, fluoride and oxides of Calcium, Magnesium, Strontium, Ferrum, Manganum, Potassium, Aluminium, Silicon, and Carbon, with traces of iodide and bromide of sodium, of Cæsium, Rubidium, Lithium, and Boracic oxide.
