Source & Nature
Corticosteronum is the potentised form of corticosterone, a natural adrenal-cortex steroid hormone secreted under ACTH control. Chemically it is C21H30O4 (molecular weight 346.46 g/mol, CAS 50-22-6, PubChem CID 5753), historically known as Kendall's compound B. It is a corticosteroid that activates both glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid receptors; in humans cortisol is the predominant glucocorticoid and corticosterone circulates in smaller amounts, whereas in rodents corticosterone is the principal glucocorticoid. It belongs to the steroid-hormone / adrenal-sarcode class of modern drug remedies.
