Source & Nature
Plutonium nitricum is the homeopathic potentisation of plutonium nitrate, a salt of plutonium (Pu, atomic number 94) — a synthetic, intensely radioactive transuranic actinide first produced in 1940–41. Plutonium-239 is the fissile isotope of nuclear weapons and reactor fuel, and plutonium nitrate solutions are the working form of the element in fuel-reprocessing chemistry. Plutonium(III) nitrate carries the formula N₃O₉Pu / Pu(NO₃)₃ (PubChem CID 13743217); plutonium(IV) nitrate, Pu(NO₃)₄, forms dark-green crystalline hydrates (Wikipedia).
Preparation
The remedy was introduced through the proving carried out by a group of Jeremy Sherr's students at the Dynamis School for Advanced Homoeopathic Studies in 1994 (published by Dynamis Books in 1999, with a repertory of the toxicology of ionising radiation). It is supplied by specialist homeopathic pharmacies in centesimal and LM potencies; 30c is the potency most commonly cited in clinical use. The publisher and review sources consulted do not state the specific potency used in the proving itself.
